Brexit

Changes as of 1 January 2021

From 1 January 2021 onwards, there will no longer be free movement of goods between the UK and the Netherlands. From now on, you will always need to file a customs declaration and your shipment may take at least one day longer as a result.

Business shipments

This may have major consequences for business shipments to the UK in particular. The checklist outlines the changes and provides step-by-step information on how you can become Brexit-ready. You can continue trading with the UK from 1 January. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your PostNL contact.

Non-business shipments

There will also be consequences for non-business shipments. You will need to send customs forms with each goods shipment. The recipient in the UK will also need to pay customs clearance costs if the contents of the shipment are worth more than £39. Prepare and pay for your shipments online at jouw.postnl.nl. We will print the shipping label and customs information for you at the PostNL point. If you have any questions, please contact our customer service department.

Shipping rates to the UK

Rates for shipments to the UK will also change.

Receiving parcels from the UK

Parcels from the UK are now officially coming from outside the European Union. Recipients in the Netherlands therefore will be required to pay custom clearance fees if the total value of imported goods exceeds 22 Euro. If any charges are payable, we will of course inform you in advance by mail or e-mail.
