Questions about postage costs

You pay postage costs when insufficient postage has been paid for sending a letter, mailbox package, or a package. If the sender is known to us, we send them a message. If not known to us, then you, as the recipient, receive a message. This means you might receive a payment request for a mail item or package that was delivered to you. Below, you can read how to find out which mail item or package it concerns, why you receive a payment reminder, and how we calculate the costs.

Check Online for Which Mail Item or Package You Need to Pay

  1. Go to https://jouw.postnl.nl/porto/
  2. Choose 'Letter' or 'Package'
  3. Click on 'View letter' or 'View package'
  • Letter: enter the recipient's postcode and the last 6 digits of the payment code
  • Package: enter the barcode of your package and the recipient's postcode

Does the payment code start with the letter A? Then it concerns an item sent abroad. We do not show a photo in that case.
