We anticipate further downsizing of the postal market. To keep mail affordable, we're making adjustments to the nationwide letterbox network. We won't be doing this all at once, but gradually. We're carefully assessing the existing letterboxes and only removing the ones that aren't needed. For instance, sometimes there are two within a 100-meter radius.
We're paying close attention to the location. Letterboxes near places like hospitals and other healthcare facilities will stay put. Additionally, we're following the rules outlined in the postal law. This means that in areas with more than 5000 residents, there will always be a mailbox within a 1-kilometer radius. In areas with fewer than 5000 residents, there will always be a mailbox within a 2.5-kilometer radius.

For residents of villages and rural areas, we carefully assess what is needed. The letterboxes specifically for medical post (near hospitals) remain in place. These are specially for sending samples with human material, such as those for heel prick tests and cancer screenings. We keep a number of letterboxes low for people with limited mobility, so they can easily reach them. In places where many elderly people visit, such as residential care centres and care locations, we try to maintain the existing letterboxes, so they can always send and receive mail.
